We can’t proclaim that Cuban cigars are the world’s finest Cigars, even though there is a lot of hype about Cuban cigars and it’s every cigar smoker’s dream to try one someday. Having said that there is a huge demand for Cuban Cigars but seldom supply meets the demand. A Genuine Cuban cigar is expensive and is hard to find in many countries, especially United States where 90% of Cuban Cigars that are sold is counterfeit. Cuban Cigar Price in India
Although Cuban cigars were already expensive because of low availability and counterfeit cigars available in the market, in 2022 Habanos further increased the price of their cigars making them very expensive. The taxes levied on Cigars while importing to India add up to an already expensive product.
The price of Cuban cigars in India starts from ₹1,000 to as much as ₹40,000 per stick. Notably, the Cohiba Behike 54 is one of the most sought-after and expensive Cuban cigars, retailing at ₹40,000 per stick.

Some of the Cuban Cigar brands that are available in India
- Cohiba: Cohiba was introduced in 1966 by Habanos, this brand is well-known in the tobacco industry. Initially, Cohiba was created solely to be gifted to various personalities and the former Cuban leader, Fidel Castro but since 1982 Cohiba has gained popularity amongst many countries.
- Partagas: Partagas Cigar brand was introduced in 1845 by Don Jamie Partagas. These Cigars are famous for their intense flavour and rich aroma. Some of the recently launched cigars in this line are The Partagas Series No. 1 Limited Edition, Partagas Linea Maduro No. 2, Maduro No. 3 and many more.
- Romeo y Julieta: Romeo y Julieta Cigar brand was introduced in 1875 this brand became popular in the early 20th Century. These Cigars come in many shapes and sizes in India like Corona, Robusto, Churchill and many more.
- Montecristo: It’s an interesting story of how they came up with the name, in 1935 the tobacco store reader who used to read books to keep the cigar rollers entertained and active would read “Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexander Dumas, which everyone liked and decided that their new brand will be named after the protagonist in the book.
- Hoyo de Monterrey: It is an attractive cigar for those who like low-strength and mild cigars since they are very delicate, less complex and aromatic. The cigars are usually made with long filler tobacco and are hand-rolled.
- Trinidad: Trinidad was introduced in 1969 like its counterpart, Cohiba to only be gifted to foreign delegates and only in 1998 it was made available for the general public in limited numbers.
- Bolivar: The brand was introduced in 1902 and today the cigars are rolled in the Partagas facility in Havana. Bolivar boasts of one of the strongest and the most complex cigars in Habanos’ portfolio. The wrapper and the filler of this Cuban cigar come from the Vuelta Abajo region in Cuba.
- H. Upmann: The brand is named after a German banker who settled in Havana in 1844 for his love of cigars. The cigars are well known for their quality and have repeatedly won accolades in the cigar world. The blend of cigars is mostly light to medium-bodied.
